Donna Karan showed her collection for fall 2011 and is receiving praise and grief.
This collection features brightly colored angora sweaters with bold patterns, houndstooth suits and skirts, pencil pants, wide-leg pants and tailored coats. Detailing includes a tux stripe or contrast color inserts.
This collection is aimed towards young, fashion lovers. Many felt her use of color and detailing were right on however, PETA is in an uproar over the use of real furs in her pieces.
Not to mention the collection aimed at this demographic may be ill received because of animal rights issues and the large amount of young people today who believe in using faux-furs over traditional real pelts.
Another issue is the price point. Much of the audience can find more affordable choices at places such as URBAN OUTFITTERS, H&M or ZARA and with the target audience being college aged women this may be a cause for concern.
